Scottish Spiced Rum is a perfect addition to the market in a country with a renowned tradition in distilling.
Scotland has seen a huge boom in distilleries recently, with the number doubling in just six years.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics have revealed there are now about 280 distilleries operating across the nation.
That’s up from 245 in 2018, and just 140 in 2013.
A total of 11 new licences were issued in Scotland in 2018 and that trend has accelerated since.
The number of distilleries operating across the UK has nearly quadrupled since a decade ago, rising from 195 in 2010 to 730 in 2019.
England now has more distilleries than Scotland for the first time ever, highlighting the growth in craft spirits and the opportunity in Scotland to capitalise with a non-traditional spirits product - such as Scottish Spiced Rum.
The majority of Scotland’s distilleries are, as you would expect, traditional whisky-making facilities but craft distilleries are on the increase.
The fact that more than half of the distilleries south of the Border are gin makers further highlights that Scottish Spiced Rum makers, including Jacobite Spirits Co, can bring something different to a market which has a clear demand for it as the demand for gin levels out.
