How Scottish spiced rum is made…
the right way!
We make our Scottish spiced rum from scratch…no gimmicks, no corners cut. Just great, Scottish Spiced Rum:
Video transcript:
Don’t you want to know how we make our rum?
Well, here’s the deal.
It all starts with magical, luke warm, Scottish water...and to that we add thick, delicious molasses (it’s kinda like treacle and a side-product from sugar making).
Then we add the most noble organism in the world, yeast! This is called our “wash” and it smells amazing!
We keep the wash warm for about 10 days and it turns into a sweet smelling, kinda beer at around 14% alcohol.
We then take our wash and distill it for the first time through our wonderful column still- this how we get to our Jacobite Base and it already tastes superb…
But it doesn’t stop here.
The Jacobite Base rum is now around 90% alcohol. So it’s time to distill it again, this time using our unique blends of international spices and Scottish botanicals. Wow, the place smells incredible now!
Finally, if it’s The 45 we’re making, we finish it in a Whisky Bourbon cask for a few weeks- just to soak up all that flavour!
And that’s it...we do it all with the Spirit of Rebellion.
